The Runner - Thesis
2023

2023
This thesis establishes the conceptual backbone of The Runner, a collection designed to explore how technical apparel can support human resilience in a future shaped by extreme environments and volatility. It examines the intersection of protection, mobility, and adaptability — proposing garments as critical tools for individuals preparing for disaster scenarios and survival conditions.

Through extensive research into survival protocols, user behaviour, and environmental realities, the project defines clear performance criteria for disaster-ready apparel: real-time bio-monitoring, integrated protective components, durability without loss of mobility, and modular systems tailored to individual needs. The design narrative is further grounded by a defined target user, a seasonal storyline rooted in preparedness, and behavioural analysis of human responses to crisis situations.

Together, these elements form a strategic framework that guided every aspect of The Runner’s design development — from material selection and construction techniques to silhouette, feature placement, and colour palette. The result is a research-driven approach that transforms technical wear into a proactive solution for a turbulent era.

These style cards translate the conceptual framework of The Runner into visual language, defining the key aesthetic and functional pillars of the collection
